PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Dr. Sara Elshershaby is a postdoctoral registered psychological associate (PSB-94028230) working under the supervision of Dr. Jason Dorin (PSY27470). She earned her doctorate degree in marriage and family therapy from Alliant International University. Dr. Elshershaby has over eight years of clinical experience working in diverse treatment settings, offering support to individuals, families, and couples across various life stages.

As a clinician, Dr. Elshershaby is dedicated to fostering a safe and trusting therapeutic environment. She believes that therapy should extend beyond symptom relief to be a space for profound self-exploration. She aims to help her patients uncover and overcome obstacles to their happiness, using a systemic theoretical perspective that allows patients to create a holistic understanding of themselves within the context of their environment and their relationships. In providing this safe and exploratory space, Dr. Elshershaby works to empower individuals, families, and/or couples to practice new behaviors, consider more effective ways of coping with life’s challenges, and develop greater interpersonal relationships.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Elshershaby has served as a professor at Alliant International University, teaching courses in couples therapy, sex therapy, crisis and trauma therapy, law and ethics, and community practice preparation. Her passion for mentorship and education helps shape the next generation of clinicians, while her academic role keeps her at the forefront of evolving psychological practices and emerging mental health needs.
