Maya Desai, MA

PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Maya Desai works under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Kwon (PSY33823), performing therapy and psychological testing for clients of all ages. She graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a BA in Psychology. During her studies, she conducted research under Dr. Tuppett Yates on adverse childhood experiences, which sparked her interest in pursuing Clinical Psychology. Her experience includes working as a peer youth specialist, where she supported high school-aged youth dealing with mental health challenges, LGBTQIA+, social struggles, etc. Currently, she is pursuing my PsyD at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. She has become increasingly interested in neuropsychology and has begun conducting EEG research with Dr. Reneh Karamians regarding assessment, intervention, and implementation strategies.

Maya is dedicated to integrating a holistic approach to psychology, aiming to destigmatize mental health and provide culturally competent care. Passionate about fostering therapeutic relationships and promoting overall well-being, she strives to empower diverse populations by equipping them with the skills to enhance their quality of life.
